- $10 per night per additional bed (separate from additional guest charge)
Booking process & payment:
- a deposit (often equivalent to the charge for 3-4 nights per room/suite) is required as a guarantee to the hotel in order to confirm a reservation (we will not hold a room without actually charging a confirmation deposit)
- written confirmation of all reservation details is provided via email upon completion of deposit processing
- payment of any remaining amount will be charged 60 days prior to arrival (except for stays ending prior to December 20th, 2007)
- advance payment may be completed via Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover
- on-site payment of any remaining or incidental charges may be made in cash or recognized traveller's cheques in either US dollars or Mexican pesos, or via Visa or Mastercard but not via American Express or Discover; such payment may require conversion to Mexican pesos, in which case published exchange rates for the date of the transaction or the next closest business day will be taken from reputable online sources such as OANDA, the Currency Site
Cancellation policy:
- unless specified differently in writing during the reservation process for a particular stay, notification of cancellation (partial or full), date changes, room preference changes or any reductive changes to the overall value of the stay must be received by the hotel in writing according to the following:
-
- first notification deadline: 30 days (60 for stays involving any of the noted holiday dates) in advance of the arrival date or the first canceled date
- second notification deadline: 15 days (30 for stays involving any of the noted holiday dates) in advance of the arrival date or the first canceled date
- if the first notification deadline is properly observed, an administrative processing fee of USD 35 will be applied and the remainder of the deposit will be refunded promptly in the manner deemed most appropriate by the hotel
- if only the second notification deadline is properly observed, the hotel may retain as a cancellation fee up to 50% of the deposit or the equivalent of the charge for 1 night plus taxes per room/suite involved, whichever is greater, in order to cover any losses due to the reduction in the value of the stay as it was originally confirmed
- if neither notification deadline is properly observed, including in cases involving late arrival or reductive changes or cancellation made on site after a stay has begun, the hotel may retain up to the full amount of the deposit in order to cover any losses due to the reduction in the value of the stay as it was originally confirmed, over and above any charges due for any portion of the stay used, to be calculated using regularly published rates for each room/suite involved over the dates involved
- except in cases where special advance notification is received by the hotel, failure to arrive for the first scheduled night of a confirmed reservation will result in automatic cancellation of all remaining nights and application of the other policies described here
- unless the hotel demonstrably fails to provide either the services confirmed or some reasonable equivalent, the policies described here apply, including in cases of travel difficulties or error on the part of the guest or others not directly associated with the hotel (see Disclaimer below)
Disclaimer:
- in confirming a stay with Playa Maya, the guest acknowledges that the hotel, the city of Playa del Carmen, the airports in Cancun and Cozumel, the Riviera Maya region and the Yucatan peninsula operate/exist in
- a developing (not first-world) country, with all the attendant issues that implies in a variety of areas but particularly in terms of less than fully reliable infrastructure and services
- a geographical zone susceptible to hurricanes and other such natural activity, especially during (but not limited to) the summer and fall months
- the hotel will do its best to provide the most consistent, reliable, high-quality service that can reasonably be expected under such conditions, but the guest acknowledges and accepts that failures in service beyond the control of the hotel may nevertheless arise as a result of them from time to time
- if a major natural event such as a hurricane or other unforeseen circumstances make it any necessary to interrupt or cancel services to a significant extent, the hotel will announce on this site a temporary halt to operations for the dates in question and will in such cases waive for those dates the cancellation policies described above; the hotel will also announce a return to service date, in such cases, as the date from which cancellation policies apply again as usual, regardless of issues unrelated to the proper operation of the hotel, including (but not limited to) air carrier scheduling changes or cancellations, interruptions of service at local attractions or by local tour/activity providers, the nature of press reports about the area, concerns on the part of the guests involving esthetics and perceived conditions with respect to weather, foliage, the landscape, the beaches, diving conditions, and other such matters
- if any event prompts local civil protection authorities to order the evacuation of the beachfront as an at-risk area, the hotel, in accordance with official operating requirements for beachfront properties, will do everything in its power to assist any guests on site to secure off-beach lodging in a safer area for any nights in question that the guest has previously confirmed with the hotel, and will use any funds paid for those nights to assist in that effort, but with no responsibility implied as to the quality or cost of lodging elsewhere
- particularly in light of the above, the guest is advised to purchase private travel insurance to ensure financial coverage in case such events or failures of service coincide with the guest's dates of stay, as the hotel cannot in any way assume financial responsibility for any difficulties not explicitly described here
